Exercise Physiology

At Exercise Prescription and Physiotherapy, exercise is medicine.

Exercise physiology is based on clinical evidence which utilises exercise therapy in managing and preventing a range of different conditions. Exercise therapy has been proven to be effective in treating musculoskeletal, metabolic, cardiovascular and mental conditions.

An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a four-year university-trained professional with extensive practical experience in using exercise as medicine. An AEP designs individualised exercise programs based on specific outcomes that the client and practitioner discuss during an initial consultation. Different forms of exercise are effective in managing or preventing conditions and an AEP is able to determine which mode(s) of exercise are most appropriate.

AEPs treat a vast range of conditions, including;

  • Arthritis
  • Fatigue
  • Injury rehabilitation
  • Osteoporosis
  • Lower back pain
  • Type II diabetes
  • Overweight and obesity
  • High blood pressure
  • Stroke
  • Heart attack
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
